Every student in the University of Tartu is a member of the Student Body and has the right to participate in the election of its representative body - the Student Council. With more than 17 000 members, this Student Body is the largest student organization in Estonia.
The Student Council is devoted to the welfare of students in the university and campaigns for the improvement of study regulations as well as better economic and social support for students in difficulties. We also organize different events to create an active cultural environment, so that each student can make the most of their studies in Tartu.
To achieve these goals there are 10 elected students in the University Council and its committees and we are a member of the umbrella organization of student unions in Estonia called EÜL, that represents the students on the government level.
